IndustryStandard's News

Posted by IndustryStandard - February 6th, 2024

First, some dumb fun:

I've started working on multiple projects simultaneously; one for serious, and one for fun. This was one for fun, and fun it was! I focused more on automating parameters rather than composing beats. Going between this and the next song helped clear my head when I would start feeling like I was getting in a rut with either song.

Next, some serious millennial whinery:

Not sure how I feel about the lyrics in particular, although if you give me enough time I'll find a reason to hate everything about anything I make so I'm not really worth listening to on this subject. Still, I feel a few of the phrases are a little trite or cringe, but I couldn't think of anything better to replace them with. I won't go into any more detail because I'd like to hear the community's unbiased opinion. I also finally got a nice pair of studio headphones, so any notes on the mix are also greatly appreciated!

in other news, does anyone else fell like they're on a spaceship doing hard but pointless labor, watching cracks form in the windows while the captain and his cronies hoard window sealing resin? like, what're they gonna do with all that? t's not gonna be useful once the windows blow out and god knows they aren't going to fix the windows themselves. Do they want to die alone trapped in a handful of rooms? But it's all ok, because life is an illusion that will one day be broken by the inevitability of death! PLEASE LIKE ANDN SHARE MY MUSIC PLEASE IT REALLY MATTERS IMPORTANTLY by which i mean it gives me a brief moment of dopamine release.

also, I adopted a couple kittens and they are the best.

I'm a member now! Please send all congratulatory pats on the head and bum to your charity of choice - it will confuse them greatly and further sew the chaos I desire. Also, SoundCloud is at least 75% farts. I appreciate any engagement my content gets on any platform, but I wanted to push my last post (about my SoundCloud) off my profile page as I like NewGrounds better.

Hooray!

I also posted a new song:

I've started posting to SoundCloud to make listening easier. So far it's only a few of my favorites that I've posted here, but the tracks are organized to fit with each other and sound good in the order in which they've been arranged. I hope some of you will give a listen, and maybe even post some feedback!

I can program in c# now and am looking for work, let me know if you have any projects! Obviously paid is preferred, but I'm also just looking to practice my skills so it's not at all necessary. I also have projects and ideas of my own that I'm working on, so if you want to throw in on something just for fun then hit me up!

I'm basically the embodiment of "death of the author", at least as far as music goes -- I think whatever you get out of a song, especially ones I make, is more important than whatever I might want you to get from it. Art is subjective, and whether a million people each have their own interpretation of something, or most of them come to the same interpretation, both results mean the art is valuable. The worst thing art can be is meaningless.

All that aside, I have a hard time writing commentary on music I post (as you may have noticed). what kind of stuff do you like to see in the commentary section? I can't promise I'll include it but it'd be helpful to have a few suggestions.

Were I to exist, would I be who you see me as, or who I think I am? What about the person I think you see me as? What about the person you think I see you as thinking of me as seeing you as?

What's important is that we're all ugly to someone.

Just thought I'd let you know, because my latest song is somewhat self-refferential. Politics aside, I'm starting to get more comfortable with rapping. I'd love some feedback, especially from anyone who's heard my previous raps.

My last post was made when I was in a really dark place. I'm not feeling a whole lot better but it's bumming me out reading it every time I visit my page, so here's some lyrics/poetry I've been working on:

Dead air

Early to bed, to rise, tonight I'll

Force myself awake til I fall like a babe

And anxiously the next day,

too early to be wasted I wait

For the sun to set, so I can exhaust myself

And drown my brain for one more breath

Of fresh dead air

Early to rise despite myself, it's healthy

Sitting by myself, luxury lets me lift myself

Above the hell beyond my door

Alone I wait, fading, debating plunging

Funding freedom against the devil's who deify themselves

Leaving Satan beside himself like "I thought I was evil, what the hell?"

In the distance - is that school or alarm bells?

Is that ambulabce or cop wails?

And when will the ambulance come?

Where will the shooters run when they're done?

Straight to the arms of the gunfellows,

The walking gallows grifting the world on their hallows

And the world lets them howl loud as they like,

Say what they like no matter the fight

the UN doesn't fight the power they are

Or bite the hand of the bartender

Turn the car around? They started the motherfucker

Wasted in the sacred quiet,

Bearing teeth, on fire to riot

Waiting for the changing science

Breathing in the fresh dead air

I made a song, but I'm too tired to upload it.

I'm almost done with my novel, but I'm too tired to finish it.

And my medicine puts me to sleep.

Good morning.

I've been making music with the Korg Kaossilator app lately, it's really helped streamline my process. I have a lot less control over the individual sounds now though, and no control over the mixing. At some point I want to incorporate the app into my usual DAW, but here are the tracks I've made so far with just the Kaossilator:

Chill

Upbeat

Buzzy

Bizarre

Bitty

Some of these still need reviews, and opinions are always appreciated!
